Many of the locals here in Rocky Point\, both individuals as well as local business\, take great pride in creating works of art\, paintings\, pottery\, and so much more. A few years ago\, there was an idea among many to create an event that would both highlight and celebrate all of this. And that’s how Mermaid’s  Rocky Point Market was born! Now you may ask – why is it called the Mermaid’s Market? Well\, it’s simple! You never know what mermaids may be selling but you can be certain that they are always wonderful treasures\, and because our local vendors and artists make these treasures they are called mermaids! \nThe Best Crafts Market in All of Rocky Point\nThe Mermaid’s Market has become an annual tradition in Rocky Point (it will be entering its 5th year this upcoming fall) and has gained a reputation as the best crafts market in all of Rocky Point for good reason! Our artesian “mermaids” are typically joined by other guest vendors and artists\, so the market is always changing from week to week! The market also contains a beer/drink garden known as the Mermaid’s Lounge\, and it has quickly grown into a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike to grab a delicious drink\, listen to music\, and more. There’s one thing that’s for certain: when you go to Mermaid’s Rocky Point Market\, you certainly won’t be disappointed with what you find. \nMake Sure to Visit Mermaid’s Market This Year!\nThe Mermaid’s Market is located right at “Shrimp Park” and will be returning this year around mid-October (exact date to be determined). The market usually continues on each first and third Saturday of the month through the beginning of April\, so don’t hesitate to stop by and see what incredible wares are in store for you! \nRocky Point Things To Do\nOnce you’ve had the chance to visit the Mermaid’s Market\, it truly is a life-changing experience\, and I call tell you from experience that it’ll be hard to not come back with a number of incredible pieces from all of the vendors that attend. But just in case you need a place to stash all of that sweet loot from the market\, make sure to check out FMI Rentals! Not that anyone is complaining\, because a Rocky Point without Roger and his happy band members is a Rocky Point we can’t bear to contemplate! \n  \nStart Planning Your June 2018 Vacation Today\nWhile four days of nonstop music and shenanigans may sound like a bit much to some people\, you will know better; just tell your boss\, your spouse\, your parents or any other naysayer\, that this Rocky Point concert is for a good cause! Part of the proceeds of the Circus Mexicus Concert goes to the children of Rocky Point (amongst other charities)\, and if you weren’t to go\, you’d be depriving a needy person of the help they so richly need. And if the music has you dancing in your seat as you sing along loudly at the top of your lungs\, well\, your enthusiasm is definitely to be applauded! \n  \nLike January Jam\, this rocking good time is good for your soul\, and personally\, we can’t imagine anywhere else we would rather be in June. 2018 dates will be announced a couple of months before the Rocky Point concert. It’s starting to become the world’s favorite pastime\, and Rocky Point’s Uniting Nation Cup at Peninsula Golf Course is a prime example. If you’re a golf fan\, chances are you have watched more than a few live golf tournaments\, but have you ever viewed one that pits entire nations against each other? The Uniting Nation Cup invites the best of Mexico to compete against the best of Canada and the best of the United States in a fierce competition that lasts four days in the middle of May. \n  \nThe Peninsula Golf Course\nThe full name of this inviting course is the Vidante Peninsula de Cortez Golf Club\, but because we live here\, we get to use the nickname\, “The Peninsula!” A Nicklaus Legacy course\, The Peninsula has been voted one of the 20 most interesting courses\, and it certainly lives up to its name. Challenging and breathtakingly beautiful\, this course certainly puts its players to the test! \n  \nThe Competition\nThe opening Rocky Point event of the Uniting Nation Cup is a cocktail meet and greet in the lobby of the Mayan Palace. Participants are friendly in this tournament dedicated to bringing nations together\, and the rivalry is friendly as well. The cup has been “traded” back and forth between US and Mexico since the event’s inception. When the reigning champion loses the cup\, well\, there’s always next year! \n\nIn the Neighborhood\nYour comfortable FMI Rentals vacation condo is most likely located right down the way from the Peninsula Golf Club\, so why not take a few minutes out of your beach schedule and watch the Rocky Point event? The bathtub races are held every March\, so if you haven’t thought about where you’d like to spend Spring Break next March\, it’s time to start planning. This Rocky Point event is fun for kids of all ages\, and if laughter is the best medicine\, you’ll be cured of all disease through the next millennium after watching\, or taking part in\, the undeniably goofy bathtub races of Rocky Point! \n  \nKeeping the Smile on Your Face is Easy\nThe smiles won’t disappear after the race is over if you are staying in one of our FMI Rentals resort condos. Reserve yours today and spend your Rocky Point vacation resting\, relaxing\, and laughing in comfort and style! Rocky Point has its own version\, held in February every year\, the Taste of Penasco\, and their version includes musical entertainment\, a contest for the chefs\, raffles\, and a get together that occurs in one central location. In 2017\, a salsa contest was added to the mix\, which made us very happy here at FMI Rentals; we take our salsa seriously! \n  \nFree Puerto Penasco Event to the Public\n  \nThe details about 2018’s Taste of Penasco haven’t been released yet\, but we will keep you informed as we hear more. In the past\, this Puerto Penasco event has been free to the public and has begun at noon. Held at the Penasco del Sol hotel\, which coincidentally\, happens to be right down the street from your spacious FMI Rentals vacation getaway\, the addition of crafts from the Mermaid Market offers the perfect opportunity for you to get a little souvenir—in between food sampling\, of course! The food\, the salsas\, and the drinks are your main reason for showing up\, and we can tell you honestly. Make sure you wear your comfy pants\, because you are going to eat a lot! \n  \nA Taste of Penasco and FMI Rentals Make a Good Team\n  \nReserve your FMI Rentals vacation cottage today and prepare for your culinary tour of Rocky Point during a Taste of Penasco\, an amazing Puerto Penasco event! Created to help raise money for local charities\, the Sportsmen’s Golf Tournament is more casual than the Las Palomas Anniversary Tournament; it’s known for touting the benefits of Bloody Mary’s before tee-off! Participants at this Rocky Point event are a jovial bunch\, understanding that this tournament is mostly for the fun\, even if there are some prizes issued\, and they are here for the charities. There’s something wonderful about getting to spend a day on a high quality golf course\, and the celebrations begin immediately after the first players leave the green and head to the clubhouse. Congratulating themselves on a job well done with tacos and beer\, we think everyone agrees that the fun is in the playing and no one really cares who wins the prizes! \n  \nWorthy Cause\n  \nThe locals who live in Rocky Point are generally less than well to do\, and proceeds from the Sportsmen’s Club tournament are usually earmarked for the very grateful children of local families\, or for those who don’t have families at all; orphanages are quite common south of the border. \n  \nFMI Rentals Offers Relaxation After a Long Day on the Course\n  \nWhether you won the tournament or just enjoyed the beverages provided\, FMI Rentals has the perfect vacation home for you to relax and recharge in after a long day on the links—reserve yours today! January Jam’s humble beginnings\, when Roger decided to write eight songs in eight days and then performed them all at JJ’s Cantina\, have led to today’s multi-band\, multi-day spectacular\, and fans from all over the world schedule their vacations around this concert in Rocky Point\, Mexico that is generally held the second weekend in January\, right around Roger’s birthday. Taking place in three separate phases from February to November\, the contest winner is determined by the total weight of all the fish caught in each of the phases\, giving even the rankest amateur an opportunity to show the “big boys” that they have what it takes! \n  \nHosted by JJ’s Cantina\n  \nEven if this is your first visit to Rocky Point\, chances are you have heard of JJ’s Cantina\, as its name has become almost synonymous with all that is fun in this south of the border fishing village. Hosting golf tournaments and bathtub races\, chili cook-offs\, and fishing tournaments in addition to serving great food and drinks\, if you haven’t been here before\, your upcoming vacation in Rocky Point is the time to change that! \n  \nThree Phases\, Three Opportunities for FMI Rentals Vacation Fun\n  \n2017 has been a very good year for the anglers\, and we have only finished one of the phases. The first phase took place February 17th – 19th\, and phase two is scheduled to take place in October on the 27th\, 28th\, and 29th. Phase three dates have not been announced yet. Rocky Point in October is wonderful; it’s still warm enough to swim during the day\, and cool enough to require jackets and fires in your FMI Rentals vacation home at night.
