Circus Mexicus

The highly anticipated, much talked about annual musical weekend “Circus Mexicus” is gearing up for a return to Puerto Penasco in June 2016. Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers have created quite a following that looks forward to their concert ever since the early days of “The Refreshments” when fans first got a taste of their music. Now the crowds have grown from a mere 40 or so people in attendance to thousands of people who gather to hear them play.

A Musical Experience: Circus Mexicus

Having played each year at the beginning of the summer season in Rocky Point, The Peacemakers are looking forward to returning in 2016 with a show for all ages and people. Their show has been voted as the “Best Rock N Roll Road Trip” by Phoenix New Times in 2009 and selected as one of the “101 Bucket List Things To Do Before You Die” by Phoenix Magazine. Their show has also been nominated “Best of Music Festival” by Phoenix New Times in 2015. Needless to say, it’s a can’t miss experience!

The weekend will kick off early on Thursday, June 9th 2016 while crowds will just begin to congregate and spend a relaxing first day in the warm weather of Puerto Penasco with plenty of local restaurants and bars to enjoy until the music begins. By sunset, four bands will begin the weekend of music on the outdoor patio stage of Cholla Bay’s “JJ’s Cantina” with starry skies and a shore full of boats as a backdrop. Anyone who has purchased a Circus Mexicus ticket ahead of time will be admitted to this first musical show.

Friday the 10th of June will commence with visitors enjoying the beaches for which Rocky Point and Puerto Penasco is known for. VIP ticket holders can take the opportunity to see The Peacemakers backstage before enjoying their show paired with fireworks and a beautiful sunset.

Saturday continues the annual Rock and Beach Soccer Tournament on the beach at the Princesa Resort beginning at 8:00 a.m. This event draws 150 players who compete for a unique glass trophy and bragging rights as the best of the best. Come nighttime, Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers will take the stage again with more fireworks and a new list of songs for another unforgettable night.

Sunday wraps up the Circus Mexicus in style with a daylong music session known as the “Mananathon” in which different bans take the stage to play whatever they please as well as enjoy the opportunity to get signed autographs from RCPM.
