Vidanta Golf Puerto Peñasco, Km. 24 Carretera Peñasco Caborca A2 Ejido, Miramar
We are starting out with what is known as one of the “Best Courses in Mexico or the Caribbean” as judged by Golfweek Magazine back in 2019, Vidanta Golf Puerto Peñasco. Ranked at #17, this Jack Nicklaus Legacy Designed Course (Jack Nicklaus & Jack Nicklaus II were the architects) has also been ranked as one of the 20 best courses in the world and more than likely has been high on your golfer’s bucket list. Described as being carved from the landscape, desert flora adorns each hole, but views of the Sea of Cortez reminds golfers that they really are in paradise. This course isn’t an easy one, offering 18 holes across 7210 acres of land, but what’s life without its challenges, especially when you can soothe your sorrows at The Tides Social House, Vidanta’s most luxurious 19th hole, at the end of your game?
A Little About the Course
Perhaps the most interesting part of the design of this stunning course is the way the Nicklauses allowed the natural landscape to determine its path and the sand dunes on which it was constructed create rolling hills and natural obstacles that you might not find anywhere else! Offering a pro shop, private and group lessons, a driving range, a practice green, and a putting green, the basic facts make Vidanta sound like any other course in the world, but the reality is this par-72 truly is a unique one. Its 18th hole, while widely regarded as its most difficult hole, is also considered one of the most spectacular holes in the world, offering over 500 yards of stunning beach views. 87 bunkers, two lakes, and Salam Seashore Paspalum grass on both the greens and the fairway finish up our portrait of this piece of paradise disguised as a golf course!

Avid golfers do not want to spend a lot of time commuting back and forth to the course, and although at this time FMI Rentals does not offer any properties within sight of Vidanta, some of our largest homes are located just 20 miles away; a quick drive that offers rewards on both ends of your journey! The Links at Las Paloma Beach & Golf Resort, Blvd. Dr. Ernesto Guevara del Campo 150, Playa Arenos
Our next course on the list, the Links at Las Paloma Beach & Golf Resort, is truly a links type golf course, which, those who know, know that means it is built on sandy soil along the coastline in the style of the originals, including St. Andrews, which is the birthplace of golf. And although our climate in Rocky Point is much warmer and sunnier, there are certain times of the year where you might feel as if you are golfing at St. Andrews. Designed by golf architects Forrest Richards and Jack Snyder, instead of offering the traditional 9 or 18 holes, this course features a TRUE 19th hole, added for golfers who aren’t ready for the fun to end, or to be utilized in the case of a tie between competitors. This, of course, makes Citron Restaurante, the bar and grill you want to hang out at after the game, the 20th hole, but we don’t think you will mind all that much when you take your first bite of spicy tacos or your sip of cerveza!
A Little About the Course
The layout of the course and the sea breezes makes the Links a challenging play as well, its driving range, chipping, and putting greens will give you plenty of opportunities to practice your swing and your short game, perhaps lessening the impact of golfing into the wind. This par-72 course offers lessons as well and is famous in the region for its many special events often taking place on a monthly basis. Its pro shop features a snack bar and a regular bar for those not wanting to sit down and dine, and every week they provide a ladies day, something that can take some of the anxiety out of golfing when you are a beginner worried about impatient male golfers. The Links also offers club rentals, which, if you aren’t particular about your clubs, can eliminate the need to lug your own set across the border. The grass is the same used at Vidanta, Salam Seashore Paspalum, and the 13th hole is the most challenging, nicknamed Poco Diablo (little devil) and offering a blind approach due to a grassy hump that hides the greens from view.
And Something About Our Properties Near The Links at Las Palomas
Sandy Beach is the area in which the Links at Las Palomas is located, and our closest retreats are both condos and standalone homes. The Bella Sirena Resort, offering 2-bedroom, 2-bath condos, is a wonderful local resort featuring beach access and so many community amenities you might just have to forgive us if we miss a few. Named for the sirens who lured sailors from the ocean, this beautiful resort offers multiple pools, hot tubs, a poolside bar and grill, and stone paths that offer a tranquil walk to Sandy Beach, where a day of beach fun awaits. Our condos in this community feature large balconies with views of the Sea of Cortez, plush furnishings, and jacuzzi tubs in the primary suite baths. The Princesa resort also offers 2-bedroom, 2-bath condos and community amenities that include three beachfront pools, two hot tubs, a swim up bar, games, fitness center, and an onsite restaurant and cantina. Our condos in this resort are luxurious, colorful, and amenity laden as well, ensuring your adventures in Rocky Point will be the most comfortable and sumptuous of ones.
The Club at Islas Del Mar Golf Course, Carretera Entronque Cerro Prieto km 6.5. S/N, Centro
Our last course on this excellent list of courses in Rocky Point is the Club at Islas Del Mar Golf Course, located in the high-end community of Islas Del Mar, also known as one of the most peaceful communities in town. A Jack Nicklaus Signature course (which simply means that the legend himself was directly involved in the design), the club is famous for its breathtaking ocean views in a town already known for same. The community is also famed for its commitment to protecting the environment, and as such, it is not unexpected to encounter a variety of wildlife as you chase that dimpled ball around the course, adding to the peaceful vibe of the area. Its flat terrain is challenging nonetheless, surrounded by water including the Sea of Cortez and a number of lagoons serving as water hazards.
A Little About the Course
Masterfully designed, the Club at Islas Del Mar Golf Course is a 9-hole course designed to be played as an 18-hole course; golfers just play the same nine holes twice, although the tee boxes are placed in different spots for the “back nine,” giving it a different play. Offering a driving range and putting greens, as with the other two spots listed here, the grass used is Salam Seashore Paspalum. This grass is common in this part of the world, as it thrives in coastal areas and is tolerant to salt and sand. All the holes at the Club are the most difficult ones, as they are surrounded by water on both sides, so don’t feel bad if your game is a little worse than normal. You can drink away your woes at the upscale clubhouse offering premium dining (and drinking!), a pro shop, and more of those incredible views we can’t get enough of, and we live here year round! And even as this course is considered a most prestigious one, the rack rate is surprisingly inexpensive, ranging from $20 to $60 depending on your age and whether you intend to play 9 or 18 holes.
And Something About Our Homes in the Islas Del Mar Community
Your favorite part of golfing at the Club at Islas Del Mar may be the close proximity of your FMI Rentals vacation retreat, as we do offer a selection of standalone homes in this community. Our homes here look a little different than the ones you may find in other communities, offering a modern flair and a sleek design style that is both sophisticated and comfortable. Choose between our 4-bedroom or 5-bedroom homes, each offering the space for up to 10 or 11 guests respectively to enjoy a vacation filled with upscale pleasures. Private pools, ocean views, and private beach access add an extra layer of luxury to your Rocky Point retreat, and multiple decks and balconies feature glass railings that do not obscure your views of the water. Propane grills, dining tables, and fire pits enhance your outdoor experiences at home with FMI Rentals, but it is the laguna views that will make it difficult to concentrate on anything else, especially at sunset.

Because golf in Rocky Point doesn’t always have to take itself seriously, we have included Casa Blanca Golf Villas on our list of courses, even though the course is a miniature one! Perfect for families, the course is tucked away in the middle of the grassy area of the resort and is free for renters, but the cost is minimal, so even if you are staying in our Sandy Beach retreats (where Casa Blanca Golf Villas are located), you can still enjoy playing 18 holes of fun golf. We’ve already discussed the condos in the Sandy Beach area, but our standalone homes are equally luxurious, located in the Costa Diamante community and offering access to the community pool and sports courts.
