La Cholla

Located at the end of a small peninsula that sticks out into the Sea of Cortez at the southern end of Cholla Bay and Laguna del Mar, you’ll find La Cholla. This beach area is not one for soft, sandy shores; instead, the terrain is rocky, but the waters are generally calm for wading or swimming when the tide is in, and it’s also a great place for launching a boat. It’s also a fantastic place for fans of tide pools, as the tide goes way out and leaves behind lots of shallow pools for examining the local sea creatures more closely. The La Cholla peninsula also has a spot known as “Pelican Point” which is a favorite among fisherman for catching red snapper, halibut, gold spotted bass, and whitefish.

Las Conchas

This 6-mile stretch of pristine beaches and sand dunes is one of the lengthier beaches in Puerto Peñasco. It’s a beautiful stretch of soft sands and shallow waters where visitors can walk out easily to wade. It’s a great place for shore fishing and shelling, or even star gazing at night.

Mirador Beach

Located just around the corner from Old Port’s Malecon, this beach is the closet to the oldest areas of downtown Rocky Point. It’s made up of both rocky shores and lots of sand and is a hot spot for lots of local parties and younger crowds, especially during Spring Break season.

Sandy Beach

Sandy Beach is located on the southern edge of the La Cholla peninsula and is a very beautiful beach area where many of the outdoor beach activities often take place. Find many people snorkeling, water skiing, parasailing, jet skiing, surfing, fishing, clamming, and sunbathing.

Playa Bonita

Technically an extension of Sandy Beach, this gorgeous stretch of shoreline is a favorite spot among locals. A great place to find all kinds of marine creatures that live among the rocks and in the tide pools, kids in particular love this beach.
