Yes, we offer some perfectly wonderful properties in near-the-beach locations—it is hard to live in Rocky Point without being close to at least one of the many beaches—but if you want to impress, beach views and sandy backyards is definitely the only way to go!

We all know the recipe for a beautiful Valentine’s Day. It starts with breakfast in bed and ends with a romantic dinner and perhaps a box of chocolates. Even though you are taking this holiday to new heights of perfection this year, it doesn’t mean you should skip what so obviously works! Traditions become traditions for a reason, and even as breakfast in bed got its start from the royals and rich people who were served their morning meals in their beds by loyal servants, today this activity has morphed into a symbol of love of giving.

Load up on sweet treats for your sweetie, and because making coffee is an easy activity with the coffee makers and Keurigs in our rentals, you can still claim to have had a hand in the meal preparation situation!
El Dia del Amor y la Amistad (Day of Love and Friendship)
Some friends of ours used to live in Germany, and while there, they started the tradition of putting shoes out for St. Nick on December 6th, continuing it even as they moved back to the states. Exploring the traditions of other countries can add new elements to your celebration, and although Mexico doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day per se, they do celebrate their Day of Love and Friendship with its traditions on February 14th, so it is almost the same!
Honestly, the only difference between this holiday and our Valentine’s Day is that it includes anyone you love and respect. Flowers, chocolates, and cards are still treasured offerings; you’ll just sound more sophisticated when you let your valentine know that this year you are celebrating El Dia del Amor y la Amistad!
Flowers can be purchased from Oh La La Floreria, chocolates can be purchased at El Molina Candy Story, and if you didn’t bring your own card, the Mermaid’s Market offers handmade cards as well as gifts for your beautiful Valentine. Oh, and don’t forget to call your mom and wish her a happy day of love and friendship. She was your first valentine, after all!
Something Different
February is prime whale watching season, as this is when fin and humpback whales are migrating through our warmer waters, and a whale watching tour (while not exactly considered a romantic activity) will give you and your valentine something different to do on this day of love.
Companies such as Eco Fun Adventures offer whale watching tours that will be surprisingly romantic, especially when you catch sight of a whale breaching, perhaps flipping its tail in your direction as he dives back into deep waters. Eco Fun Adventures’ open bar, unlimited snacks, dancing, and live music (on the way back to the dock) make the experience even more fun, and of course, they take you where the whales are known to frequent. Don’t be surprised if you encounter friendly dolphins along the way, because after all, the sea is their full-time home!

Leaning towards fresh seafood dishes such as blackened grouper and salmon piccata, every bite will be your favorite. Their strong wine menu encourages purchasing a bottle to share, and if you don’t order their cannoli for dessert, you will be strongly disappointed. Because it will still be warm enough to eat outside in February, we suggest you request a table on the patio, where the views of sunset and sea will be the best!
Sunset Cruises
The sun, the sea, and the chattering of dolphins as they frolic alongside the boat will all make a sunset sail one of your most memorable experiences during your Mexican Valentine’s Day journey, and Del Mar Charters is the company we highly recommend. Offering sunset sails aboard their 42-foot-long Catamaran, tickets are extremely reasonable and include bottled beer and margaritas for each. Dropping anchor as the sun begins its descent, they won’t begin to sail again until the sun has fully set, and your nighttime sail back to the dock will offer its own magic.
Sunset Horseback Rides on the Beach
Rocky Point Adventures is known to offer a variety of tours and fun activities, but it is their sunset rides on Rocky Point Beaches that we want to talk about here. Their beautiful horses are friendly and well-trained, and even if you have never ridden before, you will feel safe, relaxed, and enthralled with the experience from beginning to end.
